Terms of usage for out web services
Data services from the Seismological Data Center of Epos-France (SDC) are subject to a fair-use policy.
Users may use our services as long as client actions do not inhibit our capability to serve others.
Web Services usage policy
Web services hosted at the SDC should be used with respect to some limitations.
The Seismological Data Center may refuse to serve the requests that goes beyond those limitations by returning the http code 429
Note
In particular, polling for real-time continuous time series data is not allowed on any web service. For continuous, near real-time data please use our streaming service.
Real Time data stream service usage policy
The SDC allows a maximum of 5 active connections for a user.
The SDC may close arbitrary the connections beyond that limit.
About personal information management
When accessing web services hosted by the SDC, the client's IP address is collected and stored in a database for operational purposes. It allows the service operators to:
- analyze the overall activity
- build anonimized data about data usage, by counting distinct IP addresses. The built indicators are publicly available through the EIDA statistics page and web sercice
The IP addresses are kept 65 days. After that period, the information is deleted automatically.

What to do in case of error 429 ?
This error is returned by our server to the clients issuing too many requests in a given time span. If you think that you should be able to issue more requests, please contact us at mailto:sismo-help@resif.fr
